Barrie, Peter, & Wendy
YFE Productions will be producing an original take on the Peter Pan story entitled, Barrie, Peter, & Wendy this Fall. It is a 4-person romantic fairytale inspired by the life of JM Barrie, the author of "Peter & Wendy."
Quick Synopsis: Based in London. JM Barrie has finished a new work entitled "Tommy & Gritzel" when he meets the Davies children, Wendy and Michael. Together they, along with the memory of his long-deceased brother, provide the inspiration for the story "Peter & Wendy." A fictional take on one of the most influential writers of the 20th Century. A story that mixes romance with many comedic elements.
We are looking for actors to play the following roles:
JM Barrie (ages 23-30)--The author of "Tommy & Gritzel," and a well-known tutor. He is tasked with tutoring the young Michael Davies, who becomes part of the inspiration for the boy who wouldn't grow up. Barrie has a fiery imagination and passes it on to Michael. Barrie himself, though, becomes the inspiration for his creation of Captain Hook.
Michael Davies (ages11-13)--A young boy who is about to be sent to a well-known Boarding School in the area. He is tutored by Mr. Barrie during his last summer before Boarding School starts. His imagination is endless and he embodies the soul of a boy who doesn't want to grow up.
Wendy Davies (ages 23-30)--A young woman and the older sister of Michael Davies, who at first sees Mr. Barrie as hallow and vain. Over the course of the show she falls in love with Mr. Barrie and becomes the inspiration for the character of Wendy.
Mr. Smee (ages 25-50)--The chauffer of Michael and Wendy Davies, who becomes the inspiration for Captain Hook's notorious henchman.
Barrie, Peter, & Wendy will perform on Saturday, November 12th and Saturday, November 19th. Performance times are 7 PM both days and 3 PM on the 19th only. In-person rehearsals will be held at the Motherbrook Arts & Community Center, Thursdays September 29th-November 10th 6:30 PM-8:30 PM. Dress rehearsal will be at the performance venue (TBA) on Saturday, November 12th at 3 PM.
Auditions will be over Zoom on Thursdays, September 8th and September 15th. Callbacks will be held via Zoom on Thursday, September 22nd. Zoom auditions will be held between 6:30 PM and 9 PM on August 25th & September 8th. Actors should prepare a comedic monologue for the audition. Stipends will be available for all adult actors.
